A rainy day in Downtown Toronto

When Lina first reached out the week before her civil ceremony, she was looking for something quick and simple to commemorate her day with Mohamed as they eloped in Toronto, not knowing if it would be feasible as the timing was tight and Taylor Swift was currently playing her Eras tour causing extra traffic to an already bustling downtown core. Although they were then living in the US, Lina grew up in Toronto and found me through one of my previous clients whose wedding I shot earlier in the summer. Lina and Mohamed were already planning a big wedding in France, but wanted to tie back to her roots and share a special day with their immediate families in the place Lina called home.

Knowing they had a set ceremony time, and to beat the concert traffic, we opted to shoot in the late morning before they had to head to city hall.  I asked them to meet me at Union Station and they showed up in show-stopping fashion, armed with umbrellas and flowers.  And the timing couldn't have worked out more perfectly as we were in between rush-hours and grabbed a few shots inside the iconic building  before venturing out into the rain-wet streets of downtown. And of course the rain worked in our favour, creating a moody and romantic atmosphere as we explored the city together, like scenes from a movie.

A cozy and rainy November morning in the city with streets as empty as I've ever seen them, chasing light, street cars and subway stations, was the perfect way to meet this beautiful couple as they started their next chapter quietly together.
